We thought we'd die one way or another during this 20min drive. For one, the car looked like it was from the 60's and had crashed a dozen times. A big screw driver was jammed into one of the windows, assumingly to keep it closed. When the driver stalled and he had to restart the engine he didn't do it the common way...he twisted and turned a few bits from the wires hanging out from underneath the driver's wheel, as if he'd stolen the car. When it then occurred to me that this driver was recommended by the security guard working for the bank that saw us take cash out, I thought this is it, we're gonna get mugged.
Of course nothing happened, our driver was very nice and super charming and apart from driving a bit like a nutter (it seems you have to or you won't get very far) we made it in one piece. We then jumped on a 7h coach to David through beautiful mountain scenery. Once in David we got a local bus (45min drive for $1.75) to Boquete - now this really was an insane driver, just as well that it was too dark for us to see. The local buses here are old US school buses painted beautifully with lights in different colours and blinking like an 80's disco. Loud music and loud honks!
We got to Boquete at around 9pm at night, we were ready for this tranquil town in the mountains. It felt like our holiday had come to an end and the adventure had begun.
A bus.
A full rainbow.
One of many little rivers and streams.
A very surreal restaurant sign.
